Sonic Garden was installed at the Queens Common Community garden in the summer of 2023, commissioned by CAFKA, a public art biennial. Sensors measure the moisture & vibrations in the soil, which is translated into music.

This work built on my research into climate change, ecologies and the acceptance of non-human creatures as active participants in the world. At the time, I was also playing with a lot of makey makeys and other concepts in physical computing.

I wanted to facilitate a community jam, where folks could jam or dance to the music that the environment, the worms and plants, etc make.

A device to translate underground transmissions and create a small portal for connection between humans and non-humans.
